Multiscale Complexity Analysis of Rainfall in Northeast Brazil

In this work, we analyze the complexity of monthly rainfall temporal series recorded from 1962 to 2012, at 133 gauge stations in state Pernambuco, northeastern Brazil. To end, employ modified multiscale entropy method (MMSE), which is well suited for short time series, regularity across a wide range scales, one month year. We identify scales that distinguish inland semiarid Sertão region, transitional Agreste and coastal, tropical humid Zona da Mata by comparing results study area performing statistical significance tests. Our work contributes establishment methods based on information theory climatological studies.
